Former President Trump and Vice President Harris are in a deadlocked tie in the battleground state of Michigan as the nation approaches Election Day. A recent poll from USA Today found that both candidates are tied at 47% among likely voters in Michigan. The poll surveyed 500 likely voters from October 24 to October 27 with a margin of error of 4.4%. Additionally, the poll showed Robert F. Kennedy Jr. receiving approximately 1% of the vote, despite dropping out of the race and endorsing Trump. Kennedy’s attempts to have his name removed from ballots in Michigan were unsuccessful, with the Michigan Supreme Court ruling against the move.

In a separate Reuters national poll, Harris’ lead has narrowed to just one point, with the vice president holding 44% of the vote to Trump’s 43%. The Reuters poll, which surveyed 1,150 U.S. adults, including 975 registered voters, also revealed Harris slipping in certain key issues, such as concerns about extremism and threats to democracy. An earlier poll in October had shown Harris leading Trump by 7 points on this issue, but the most recent poll showed her lead had decreased to just 2%. This new poll results come after another USA Today poll that found Harris and Trump in a dead heat in Wisconsin, with Trump leading by one percentage point.

Wisconsin, along with two other Rust Belt states, voted for Trump in 2016 before flipping back to the Democrats in 2020. President Biden narrowly won Wisconsin by just over 20,000 votes or 0.7 points. As of Monday morning, early voters in Wisconsin had cast over 850,000 ballots, part of the more than 41 million votes already cast nationwide for the upcoming election. These battleground states are crucial in determining the outcome of the election, with both candidates closely matched in polls leading up to Election Day.

In addition to the tight race, officials in battleground states are warning about foreign entities using misinformation to undermine the democratic process. Concerns about misinformation and interference in the election have been growing, with officials working to combat these threats and ensure the integrity of the electoral process. The impact of foreign interference on the election results is yet to be seen, but efforts are underway to protect the democratic process from external influences.

The polls in Michigan and Wisconsin highlight the competitiveness of the upcoming election, with both Trump and Harris locked in tight races in key battleground states. The narrowing leads for both candidates underscore the importance of every vote in these critical swing states. With early voting already underway and millions of ballots cast, the outcome of the election remains uncertain, with both candidates vying for support in a closely divided electorate. The final days leading up to Election Day will be crucial in determining the next President of the United States.
