A 21-year-old victim named Jamileth narrowly escaped being raped by a man inside a Queens subway station, leaving her battered and bruised. She shared in an interview with ABC 7 Eyewitness News that she is now constantly looking over her shoulder and living in fear following the terrifying assault. The attacker, who assaulted her on February 24, remains at large, causing Jamileth to feel anxious and unsafe wherever she goes.

Jamileth had finished her night shift cleaning offices and was taking an F train home around midnight when she noticed a man staring at her. When she tried to exit the train at the 169th Street station in Jamaica, the man blocked the doors and engaged in a lewd act. After he got off the train, Jamileth followed to ensure he had left but found him waiting at the top of the stairs. He then followed her down a passageway and attacked her in an area blocked from public view, punching her, dragging her, and attempting to remove her clothes.

Despite the attacker’s violent attempts, a security guard inside the station heard Jamileth’s cries for help and intervened, scaring the assailant away. Jamileth, who had recently immigrated to the US from Ecuador, was taken to the hospital for treatment and has since switched to working a day shift to avoid similar incidents. The suspect is described as 5-foot-10, and anyone with information about the crime is urged to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline.

The traumatic assault has left Jamileth feeling anxious, constantly looking over her shoulder, and struggling to feel safe in her daily life. The attacker, still at large, has instilled fear and uncertainty in her, making her fearful of being alone and always concerned about her surroundings. The incident has had lasting effects on her mental and emotional well-being, highlighting the importance of community awareness and support in preventing such crimes.

The harrowing experience has affected Jamileth’s sense of security and peace, forcing her to live in fear and vigilance due to the trauma inflicted upon her. Despite the physical injuries she suffered, the emotional scars run deep, impacting her ability to trust others and feel safe in public spaces. The hope for justice and closure remains as authorities continue to search for the suspect, emphasizing the need for community involvement and vigilance in combating violence against women.

In the aftermath of the attack, Jamileth has taken steps to protect herself and raise awareness about the dangers women face in public spaces. By sharing her story with the media and cooperating with law enforcement, she hopes to prevent similar incidents from happening to others. Her bravery and resilience in the face of adversity serve as inspiration for others to speak out against sexual violence and support survivors in their healing journey. The call for justice for Jamileth and all victims of sexual assault remains a crucial aspect of preventing such crimes and ensuring the safety and well-being of all individuals in society.
