The Boys are finally returning with season 4 after a two-year hiatus. The show, based on the comic books by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, explores a world where superheroes exist but are far from heroic. The main storyline follows Billy Butcher and his team as they try to take down The Seven, a corrupt squad of superheroes led by Homelander. Season 3 ended with Butcher using Temp V to gain super abilities, but at the cost of his own life. Meanwhile, Homelander’s influence grows as he takes Butcher’s son under his wing.

Showrunner Eric Kripke teases that Butcher may have only a few months to live, leading him to question his legacy and make difficult decisions. Homelander’s arc in season 4 focuses on his attempts at fatherhood, showcasing his selfish and narcissistic tendencies. Starlight’s exit from The Seven has a significant impact on the group dynamics, with her character struggling to find control in her own life.

Season 4 introduces two new members to The Seven: Sister Sage and Firecracker. These characters bring a new dynamic to the group, with Sister Sage being the world’s smartest person and Firecracker relying on manipulating public emotions. Victoria Neuman, with her deadly head-popping ability, is on a journey to the vice presidency, facing internal struggles as she navigates the ruthless political landscape.

The upcoming season promises to delve deeper into the complex relationships and power struggles within The Seven and Vought International. With Butcher’s ticking clock, Homelander’s questionable parenting, and the introduction of new characters, the stakes are higher than ever. Fans can expect a mix of action, drama, and dark humor as The Boys returns to Amazon Prime Video on June 13.
