Another search as a “business” in the “manufacturing” category returned programs offering tax incentives for clean energy projects such as alternative fuel production, sustainable aviation, nuclear power production, and other low-carbon technologies.
Governor Jay Inslee emphasized the importance of not missing out on funding opportunities due to lack of awareness. He stated that the portal offers an easy way for individuals and organizations to browse for funding that could help them improve their home, business, or community. Earlier this year, a group supporting the Climate Commitment Act released an interactive map showcasing the programs being funded across the state with money collected through the act.
However, in November, Washington residents will vote on Initiative 2117, which aims to eliminate the Climate Commitment Act. Those backing the initiative argue that the act is contributing to increased gas prices in the state.
