An image of a UFO that was shot down by a U.S. fighter jet over Canada in February 2023 has been released to the public. The blurry photo of the unidentified cylindrical object was obtained by Canadian news outlet, CTVNews, through an information request from Canada’s Department of National Defence. The object was initially detected by the North American Aerospace Defense Command flying at about 40,000 feet over Alaska before drifting into Canadian airspace. It was shot down in the Yukon Territory, bordering Alaska, after being monitored by jets.

The UFO was one of three aerial objects brought down that month, following the downing of a Chinese surveillance balloon that had drifted from Alaska to the United States and was shot down off the coast of South Carolina. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau confirmed with President Biden their commitment to protecting North American airspace and keeping citizens safe. A U.S. F-22 Raptor fired an AIM 9X missile to down the object, believed to be a “small metallic balloon with a tethered payload.” Biden clarified that the three objects were not related to the Chinese spy craft incident.

The image of the UFO was initially declassified in Canada and approved for public release, but an official from the Canadian armed forces raised concerns about potential confusion if the image was made public. The official questioned whether releasing the image via social media accounts would create more questions and confusion, despite claims that the object was benign. As a result, the release of the image was held back pending engagement with the U.S. government. Fox News Digital has reached out to the Canadian Department of National Defence for further information on the UFO incident.

The incident involving the UFO adds to the growing interest in unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP) and the need for transparency in disclosing information related to such sightings. A congressman has called for the disclosure of all UFO documents within 270 days, urging authorities to release information to the public. The sighting of the UFO over Canada in 2023 has drawn attention to the need for cooperation and communication between countries to protect airspace and ensure the safety of citizens.

The release of the UFO image has sparked debate about the implications of disclosing such information to the public and the potential impact on public perception. Despite concerns about creating confusion, there is growing interest in understanding and investigating UFO sightings, with some calling for increased transparency and disclosure of information. The incident underscores the need for further research and collaboration between governments to address the phenomenon of unidentified aerial objects in a transparent and responsible manner. As the investigation into the UFO incident continues, the public awaits further updates and information on the nature of the object and its potential implications.
