Aaron Rodgers, the famous quarterback, has been involved in a family feud with his brother Luke for years, with the origin of their estrangement remaining undisclosed. The rift supposedly began when Aaron was dating Olivia Munn from 2014 to 2017, leading to a fallout with his parents, Ed and Darla Rodgers. However, Aaron denied that Munn was the reason for the disagreement, as stated in Ian O’Connor’s latest book, Out of the Darkness: The Mystery of Aaron Rodgers. The book also shed light on the ongoing feud between Aaron and Luke, which escalated in 2015 after Aaron withdrew from being the best man at a friend’s wedding.
Luke attended the wedding with their parents and publicly addressed Aaron’s absence through social media posts. The hashtags he used were interpreted as directed towards Aaron’s decision not to attend the ceremony. Aaron believed that his friend should have respected his wishes by not inviting his family, which caused further tension between the brothers. Prior to this incident, Luke and Aaron were close enough to live together in Green Bay and Del Mar, California. However, their relationship soured over time due to various conflicts, including disagreements about a T-shirt business that Luke started featuring Aaron’s likeness.
The Pro Merch apparel company, co-founded by Luke and his partner Austin Casselman, signed deals with popular athletes, including Aaron, for their names and likenesses. Nevertheless, the T-shirt business became a point of contention between the siblings, with Aaron eventually expressing his displeasure at seeing his picture on merchandise without his approval. Additionally, Aaron claimed that he had helped Luke secure a licensing agreement with the NFLPA but was not interested in being a founder. Despite the business disputes, Aaron stated that his issues with Luke began long before the conflicts over the merchandise deal.
Aside from the disputes over the T-shirt business, Aaron was reportedly upset when Luke participated in a television show called Clean Break in 2012. The show depicted men seeking adventure in Hawaii and portrayed Luke as needing to break free from his brother’s shadow. This portrayal irked Aaron, especially since he had supported Luke financially in the past. Luke attempted to mend his relationship with Aaron in 2015 but was rebuffed by Aaron, who cited prior commitments, including driving his then-girlfriend Olivia Munn to a film set.
Despite their estrangement, Luke commented on Aaron’s career in March 2017, acknowledging his talent and predicting success for him in the future. Luke expressed sorrow over not being able to talk to his brother and lamented the situation, highlighting the challenging nature of their strained relationship.
