Former President Donald Trump participated in a Fox News town hall event in front of a female audience and made at least 19 false claims during the one-hour event. These falsehoods included lies about abortion, immigration, inflation, and national security. For example, he falsely claimed that everybody wanted the Roe v. Wade decision to be overturned, which is not accurate based on polling data that shows a majority of Americans and Democrats supported preserving the decision. He also made absurd claims such as being the “father of IVF” despite the first child being conceived through IVF before he had any involvement.
Trump also criticized Vice President Kamala Harris and repeated false claims about her role in addressing border issues, stating that she had not visited the border when, in fact, she had visited two border states in 2021 and 2022. He also spread misinformation about immigration levels and the border wall, incorrectly stating that there were 571 miles of wall built during his presidency when the official data shows 458 miles were built. Additionally, Trump falsely claimed that the US was the only country to have immigration judges at the border, which is not true.
Another false claim made by Trump was regarding the legal status of immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, where he wrongly stated that 30,000 illegal aliens had been dropped in the city. In reality, the Haitian immigrants in Springfield are in the country lawfully under the Immigration Parole Program. Trump also inaccurately described the parole program as probation, and he exaggerated the number of immigrants in the city. Additionally, Trump spread falsehoods about inflation rates under the Biden-Harris administration, incorrectly stating that the US had record inflation when the actual rate was significantly lower.
Trump also made misleading statements about US military presence in Syria and South Korea, falsely claiming that he had completely withdrawn troops from Syria and that South Korea did not pay for the US military presence. In reality, Trump reduced troops in Syria but did not fully withdraw them, and South Korea agreed to pay more for the US military presence under the Biden administration. Overall, Trump’s town hall event was filled with false claims and misinformation on a variety of topics ranging from immigration to national security.
