Donald Trump called for Joe Biden to undergo a drug test before their upcoming presidential debates, citing concerns about the incumbent being “high as a kite” during his State of the Union address in March. Trump made these comments during a speech at a GOP dinner in St. Paul, Minnesota, emphasizing that he wanted a fair debate with Biden.

During his speech, Trump expressed his intention to demand a drug test for Biden, stating that he did not want the former vice president to perform in a similar manner to his State of the Union address. Trump did not specify whether he himself would also take a drug test. The Biden campaign did not immediately respond to Trump’s request for a drug test.

Biden, who is 81 years old, gave a lengthy and spirited speech during the State of the Union address, prompting some Republicans to speculate about his state of mind at the time. Rep. Greg Murphy from North Carolina suggested that Biden “must have been jacked up on something” during the address. Trump, who is 77 years old, has previously called for Biden to undergo drug testing based on his debate performances during the Democratic primaries.

Despite Trump’s earlier calls for drug testing in 2020 before debates with Biden, neither candidate went through with the testing. However, Trump and Biden have agreed to participate in two upcoming debates on June 27 and September 10, hosted by CNN and ABC respectively. Trump expressed confidence that the networks hosting the debates would ensure a fair and balanced atmosphere for the candidates to engage in meaningful discussions. The issue of drug testing is likely to resurface as a point of contention between the two candidates leading up to the debates.
