Former President Donald Trump made a surprise visit to a Manhattan firehouse, delivering pizzas to the FDNY’s Engine Co. 8, Ladder Co. 2. The campaign had dropped off 10 boxes of pizzas before Trump’s arrival, and the firefighters greeted him with cheers. Trump posed for photos, signed items, and chatted with the firefighters during the 10-minute stop. The firefighters appreciated the visit and described Trump as a very personable and nice guy who speaks to people, not at them.

This was Trump’s second visit to the firehouse, as he had previously been there on September 11, 2021. The FDNY spokesperson emphasized that they have hosted presidents and political leaders from all parties for decades and value anyone who shows support for firefighters. The department presented Trump with two hats with the numbers of the engine and ladder companies. The firefighters expressed their gratitude for Trump’s visit, noting that it is always special when a president shows up at their place of work.

In contrast to Trump’s warm reception, New York Attorney General Letitia James encountered boos during a speech at an FDNY promotion ceremony in March. Chants of “Trump” broke out as James addressed the crowd, as she had brought a civil fraud lawsuit against the former president in 2022 resulting in a large judgment that Trump is appealing. Trump is currently on trial in Manhattan for alleged hush money payments made to porn star Stormy Daniels in 2016. He faces 34 felony counts related to falsifying business records in connection with the alleged payments and has pleaded not guilty.

During his court trial, Trump has been appearing in court for the 11th day to face the charges against him. Despite the legal proceedings, he took time to visit the FDNY firehouse to show his support for the first responders. The firefighters appreciated the gesture and enjoyed the pizzas that Trump had delivered. Trump was described as very personable and engaging by the firefighters, who expressed their gratitude for his visit. The FDNY stated that they appreciate anyone who supports their members, regardless of political affiliation.

The FDNY has a history of hosting presidents and political leaders from all parties, and Trump’s visit was seen as a positive show of support for the firefighters. The department values the support of individuals like Trump, who take the time to visit and show their appreciation for the work of first responders. Despite the political controversy surrounding Trump and the ongoing legal challenges he faces, his visit to the firehouse was met with gratitude and warmth by the firefighters. Trump’s visit was a reminder of the importance of recognizing and honoring the efforts of those who serve and protect their communities.
