Former President Donald Trump recently encouraged liberals to vote for Robert F. Kennedy Jr., an Independent presidential candidate, describing him as the most radical left candidate in the race who is even further left than President Biden. Trump praised Kennedy’s character and policy positions in comparison to Biden, urging liberal voters to support him in the upcoming election.
Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee for president, stated that RFK Jr. would be a better choice than Biden for Democrats due to his alignment with Democratic ideals. He suggested that Kennedy’s candidacy could potentially take away votes from Biden, leading liberals to support the Independent candidate over the incumbent president. Trump emphasized that Kennedy is a better man than Biden, indicating that his presence in the race is positive for the MAGA movement.
Despite accusations that Kennedy’s campaign is a spoiler meant to benefit Trump, the Independent candidate has expressed his intention to disrupt the votes of both Trump and Biden in the general election. Kennedy and his campaign staff have faced scrutiny after terminating a consultant who suggested that the primary goal of RFK Jr.’s voters was to detract votes from Biden.
In national polls, Kennedy has the support of 10% of voters, with Trump receiving 41.9% and Biden at 40%. The RealClearPolitics average of polls includes third-party candidates Cornel West and Jill Stein in the data. Kennedy, the son of Robert F. Kennedy, initially launched his White House bid as a Democrat before switching to run as an independent candidate.
In a video message, Trump baselessly predicted that Kennedy could be indicted by the Justice Department before the election, speculating that it would likely be for environmental fraud and insinuating that Kennedy is Biden’s political opponent rather than his. Despite these allegations, Kennedy’s presence in the race as a left-leaning Independent candidate continues to attract attention and support in the lead-up to the election.
