The CEO of Goya Foods, Bob Unanue, spoke out against Vice President Kamala Harris’ economic proposal, stating that the government should not be controlling prices. Unanue criticized the Biden-Harris administration for what he perceives as a war against the middle class, starting from fossil fuels to green energy. He believes that the administration has set the country on a disastrous path with executive orders that are harming the economy.

Unanue used the analogy of a child with a lemonade stand to illustrate his point about government control over pricing. He argued that if the government mandated that the child had to sell lemonade for less than the cost of making it, the child would be forced to shut down their stand. Unanue believes that controlling pricing in industries such as grocery, which operates on very thin profit margins, would put many businesses out of operation.

Former President Trump also criticized Harris’ economic proposal during a rally in Pennsylvania, warning that it could lead to rationing, hunger, and escalating prices. Trump accused Harris of wanting to implement socialist price controls, which he claimed have never worked in the past. He labeled Harris as a communist and expressed concerns about the direction that the country would take under her leadership.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump continued to attack Harris, describing her as a communist who is detrimental to the country. He expressed the belief that the United States would fail quickly if Harris were in charge and vowed not to let that happen under his watch. Trump’s comments reflect a broader sentiment among conservatives who view the current administration’s economic policies as overly intrusive and harmful to businesses and consumers.

The debate over government control of pricing and economic policies is ongoing, with strong opinions on both sides. Those in favor of price controls argue that they are necessary to prevent exploitation and ensure fair prices for consumers. Critics, on the other hand, believe that such measures can lead to market distortions, shortages, and reduced competition.

It remains to be seen how the Biden-Harris administration will respond to these criticisms and whether they will adjust their economic policies in light of the concerns raised by figures like Unanue and Trump. The clash between government intervention and free-market principles is likely to continue as policymakers seek to navigate the economic challenges facing the country.
