Stars like Sofia Vergara, Gillian Jacobs, and Janelle James stood out in red attire, while others like Anna Sawai wore designs from Vera Wang. The night’s winners included Jeremy Allen White, Jean Smart, and Billy Crudup, amongst others. Liza Colón-Zayas made history by becoming the first Latina woman to win in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series category.

Another first at the Emmys was the father-son duo of Eugene and Dan Levy serving as hosts, starting the night with a memorable shared monologue. The trio from Only Murders in the Building, Selena Gomez, Martin Short, and Steve Martin, presented awards and added humor to the evening. However, despite The Bear sweeping many categories, it lost Best Comedy Series to HBO’s Hacks. Other notable winners included Richard Gadd’s Baby Reindeer and Hulu’s Shogun.

One emotional moment came during John Oliver’s acceptance speech for Outstanding Scripted Variety Series when he thanked his family and a deceased family pet. The Emmys also featured reunions of the Happy Days and West Wing casts, celebrating the 50th anniversary of Happy Days and bringing together iconic characters from various TV professions. Stars who portrayed doctors, coaches, moms, dads, cops, lawyers, and villains were all brought together for the broadcast.

Joshua Jackson and Matt Bomer presented the Governor’s Award to Greg Berlanti at the Emmys, with their entrance set to the iconic Dawson’s Creek theme. The evening also had a touching “In Memoriam” segment featuring a performance by country singer Jelly Roll of the song “I’m Not OK.” The performance paid tribute to stars who have passed away, including Shannen Doherty, Bob Newhart, and Richard Simmons, among others.
