The Wisconsin attorney general has filed charges against three allies of Donald Trump who are accused of being involved in a scheme to present fake electors and undermine the 2020 presidential election. The men facing charges are Kenneth Chesebro, Jim Troupis, and Michael Roman, with each facing a forgery charge. Wisconsin is not the only state to take legal action against individuals connected to Trump for attempting to overturn election results, as other states such as Michigan, Arizona, Nevada, and Georgia have also brought charges against Trump’s associates.

Governor Tony Evers of Wisconsin responded to the charges against the three individuals with a simple “Good.” Chesebro, a right-wing attorney, had been cooperating with investigators in multiple states regarding the fake elector scheme. The 10 fake electors from Wisconsin had previously acknowledged Biden’s victory in the 2020 election and pledged not to participate in any future attempts to overturn election results when Trump is on the ballot as part of a civil lawsuit settlement. They recognized that their actions in signing fake certificates were part of an attempt to improperly overturn the election.

The charges against Chesebro, Troupis, and Roman are part of a broader effort to hold individuals accountable for their roles in attempting to undermine the 2020 presidential election. The former Trump lawyer and campaign official are facing consequences for their involvement in the fake elector plot in Wisconsin, which was intended to support Trump’s baseless claims of election fraud. While Chesebro’s lawyers had hoped that his cooperation with investigators would prevent charges, all three individuals are now facing legal action for their actions.

The 10 fake electors from Wisconsin have publicly acknowledged Biden’s victory and affirmed their commitment to upholding the legitimacy of the election results. They have stated their opposition to any efforts to undermine public confidence in the outcome of the 2020 presidential election. The charges filed against Chesebro, Troupis, and Roman are part of an ongoing legal initiative to address the far-reaching consequences of attempts to overturn the election. Other states have also taken measures to prosecute individuals involved in similar efforts to challenge the election results in favor of Trump.
