A group of five masked burglars orchestrated a series of thefts from UPS and FedEx trucks in New York City, stealing jewelry, Gucci products, and other items totaling over $64,000. The first incident occurred on April 1 when a single burglar raided a UPS truck in Midtown Manhattan and made off with 84 packages, although the contents and value were not specified. On May 10, two thieves stole eight Gucci boxes worth nearly $30,000 from a FedEx truck in the Meatpacking District during the day.

Another heist took place on June 4, where two suspects used a tool to break into a UPS truck in Midtown and stole bags of jewelry valued at least $100 while two accomplices acted as lookouts. The following incident occurred on June 7, when a single thief took 122 packages worth around $12,000 from a UPS truck on Madison Avenue in Manhattan. Then, in October, a man and woman used a burglar tool to break into a UPS truck in Long Island City but the value of the stolen items was not disclosed.

Continuing the spree in October, a thief broke into a locked UPS truck on the Lower East Side and took Apple products worth $9,500. In a Halloween heist, three burglars stole Apple products valued at $13,450 from a UPS truck in Park Slope. In November, another bandit took two packages from a UPS truck also in Park Slope, with the value of those items unclear. No arrests had been made as of the time of the report, and the NYPD released video footage of the suspects carrying the stolen goods.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the crimes to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS or the Spanish hotline at 1-888-57-PISTA. Tips can also be submitted online through the CrimeStoppers website. The series of thefts highlight a pattern of bold burglaries targeting delivery trucks in multiple neighborhoods across New York City, with the thieves primarily targeting valuable items such as jewelry and electronics. The fact that the burglaries occurred in broad daylight and involved multiple suspects suggests a level of planning and coordination among the thieves.

With stolen items worth tens of thousands of dollars, the burglars represent a significant threat to the delivery companies and customers expecting their packages to arrive safely. The use of burglar tools and masks indicate a level of planning and sophistication in these crimes, raising concerns about the safety of delivery drivers and the security of goods in transit. The collaboration between the NYPD and the public is crucial in apprehending the suspects and preventing further thefts, underscoring the importance of community involvement in addressing criminal activities. The investigation into the spree of thefts from UPS and FedEx trucks remains ongoing as law enforcement seeks to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
