New details are emerging about Israel’s daring rescue operation to free four hostages from Hamas captivity. The Israeli Defense Forces described the mission as a high-risk, complex, and surgical operation that was meticulously planned for weeks using precise intelligence. The operation, which took place in Nuseirat in central Gaza, involved officers from the National Police special anti-terror unit of Yamam and Shin Bet agents simultaneously raiding two Hamas buildings to rescue the three male hostages and one female hostage. The soldiers had undergone intense training in preparation for the rescue mission.

One of the most widely recognized hostages, Noa Argamani, was rescued at one site, while Almog Meir Jan, Shlomi Ziv, and Andrey Kozlov were rescued from another location. Dramatic aerial footage captured the hostages running with Israeli forces to a waiting helicopter before being evacuated to safety. Tragically, Chief Inspector Arnon Zmora, an officer in the special anti-terror unit of Yamam, was critically injured during the operation and later died from his injuries. The Israeli forces also faced resistance from armed guards inside the buildings, resulting in casualties among the Palestinian population.

During the operation, the Israeli forces engaged in a firefight with the guards, resulting in casualties among the Palestinian population. The decision to carry out the mission during the day was made to surprise Hamas and because they were holding hostages inside civilian buildings. The Israeli forces had to move quickly to prevent Hamas from harming the hostages as they were being moved from flat to flat. The command to go was given at 11 a.m., and the raid began 25 minutes later.

The mission was meticulously planned, and Israeli forces had gathered intelligence in multiple ways to ensure its success. Models of the buildings were built to practice the raid, and special units were prepared for similar operations in the past but had not executed them due to a lack of favorable conditions. The operation was described as one of the most heroic and extraordinary operations by Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant, who praised the courage and cooperation of the troops in completing the mission successfully. Despite the risks and challenges faced during the operation, the hostages were safely rescued and brought to safety.

The Israeli forces faced significant challenges during the rescue mission, as they had to navigate a complex urban environment in Gaza while facing heavy fire from Hamas. The operation required precision and accuracy, with hundreds of warriors involved in carrying out the mission. The Israeli forces encountered resistance from armed guards inside the buildings and faced gunfire and RPG fire during the operation. Despite the risks involved, the troops showed immense courage and determination in completing the mission successfully.

The rescue operation in Gaza resulted in under 100 Palestinian casualties, with some of them identified as terrorists by the Israeli forces. Hamas had embedded hostages with civilians and used them to fire on Israeli forces during the operation. The rescue mission required the Israeli forces to fire from the air and from the street to neutralize the threat posed by Hamas. The successful completion of the operation demonstrates the dedication and professionalism of the Israeli Defense Forces in carrying out high-risk rescue missions to safeguard innocent lives and combat terrorism.
