In November 2023, Taylor Swift’s single “Is It Over Now? (Taylor’s Version) [From The Vault]” debuted at No. 1 on the Hot 100 chart, adding to her impressive tally of chart-topping hits. The song continued to perform well for months, but suddenly, it disappeared from the chart. Billboard removed the track due to the recurrent rule, which states that any song that has spent at least 20 weeks on the chart must rank inside the top 50 to remain on the list. Unfortunately, “Is It Over Now?” fell below the No. 50 spot, leading to its removal from the Hot 100.

The removal of “Is It Over Now?” from the Hot 100 marks the first time in months that the song has not been included on the chart. Despite debuting at No. 1 and maintaining a constant presence, the track could not compete with the influx of new hits from back-to-back album releases. While there is a slim chance that the song could find its way back onto the ranking, it would require something truly special to achieve that feat.

This week, the Hot 100 is dominated by songs from Beyoncé’s new album Cowboy Carter, with 21 tracks from the project making their debut on the chart. The first two singles from the album also secured a spot on the list, pushing many other songs down or off the chart entirely, including “Is It Over Now?” The previous week, the song was already slipping down the ranking, and the arrival of new albums from major artists further contributed to its disappearance from the chart.

Prior to being removed from the Hot 100, “Is It Over Now?” was ranked at No. 47, just above the important No. 50 mark. In the previous frame, it was at No. 31, indicating a rapid decline in chart performance due to intense competition from other big-name artists. However, despite the song’s removal from the Hot 100, Taylor Swift is expected to make a strong comeback with her upcoming album The Tortured Poets Department, which is set to be released on April 19. The album is anticipated to dominate the Hot 100 in a similar fashion to Beyoncé and Future and Boomin’s recent projects, potentially achieving even greater success.
