A Central Texas couple, Kelby Noack and Giselle Vento, exchanged vows under the fading afternoon light of the Great American Solar Eclipse on April 8, just as it approached 100% totality. The couple felt that the stars had aligned in their favor when they got engaged three months prior. Vento was inspired by author Paolo Coello’s quote about the universe conspiring to help find love. She suggested a cosmic-themed wedding inspired by the alignment of the moon and sun to Noack, and plans were set into motion for an intimate backyard ceremony with the eclipse as the backdrop.

The forecast for the eclipse viewing in Waco, Texas, where the wedding was planned, included clouds and a 74% chance of rain, which had some concerned. Despite the cloudy skies on the morning of the wedding, the couple decided to release control and allow the event to unfold as it was meant to. Noack and Vento believed in being grateful for whatever circumstances life presented them, a lesson Noack had taught Vento. As they stood at the altar waiting for the eclipse to begin, the clouds intermittently obscured and revealed the celestial event.

Noack walked to the altar to “Clair de Lune” by Claude Debussy while Vento walked down the aisle to “Here Comes The Sun” by The Beatles. The total eclipse began at 1:38 p.m. CST, and the couple exchanged vows just before that moment. During the 4 minutes and 12 seconds of totality, the sky grew dark, the birds quieted, and the air cooled, creating a magical and surreal atmosphere for the ceremony. The couple described the experience as beyond understanding and truly special, as the clouds parted just in time to reveal the full display of the eclipse’s corona.

In the 40 days leading up to the wedding, the couple had put their intentions out into the universe for how they wanted their special day to unfold, and everything seemed to align perfectly for them. The families and guests came together to create a memorable and unique wedding experience that exceeded their expectations. Despite the cloudy forecast and concerns leading up to the event, the couple was grateful for the experience they had during the total eclipse. The rare event turned out to be everything the bride had imagined and more, creating a magical and unforgettable backdrop for their sacred ceremony.

The couple’s wedding during the solar eclipse was a unique and memorable experience that brought together their love, devotion, and a cosmic backdrop that aligned perfectly with their beliefs and intentions. The intimate backyard ceremony under the fading afternoon light of the eclipse provided a surreal and magical atmosphere for the couple to exchange vows and begin their life together. Despite the uncertainty of the weather and forecasts leading up to the event, the couple’s decision to release control and allow the moment to unfold naturally resulted in a truly special and unforgettable wedding experience that exceeded their expectations.
