Actor Steve Buscemi was assaulted while walking the streets of New York. His publicist confirmed the incident, stating that Buscemi was okay but had bruising, swelling, and bleeding to his left eye. The 66-year-old star of “Fargo” and “Boardwalk Empire” was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The attacker reportedly took off and has not been captured yet, according to the New York Post. The New York Police Department released surveillance photos of the alleged attacker, who has not been identified.

The NYPD did not name Buscemi as the victim in their statement on the assault. Witnesses saw the attacker with a woman before the incident, and then saw him trip and fall backwards. The attacker quickly got up and ran in the opposite direction. Buscemi, a Brooklyn native, is a beloved New York figure and former firefighter who helped his old team at Ground Zero during the 9/11 attacks. This is not the first incident of random violence in the city, as Buscemi’s “Boardwalk Empire” co-star Michael Stuhlbarg was also assaulted in Central Park.

On March 31, Stuhlbarg was hit in the back of the neck with a rock while walking in Central Park. He was able to chase down his attacker, who was later identified as a homeless man named Xavier Israel. Stuhlbarg’s attacker was taken into custody outside the park. The recent attacks on Buscemi and Stuhlbarg highlight the ongoing issue of random violence in New York City. Despite the incidents, both actors were able to persevere and seek help for their injuries.

The surveillance photos released by the NYPD show the bearded man carrying a backpack and wearing a baseball hat, blue t-shirt, black sweatpants, and white sneakers. The attacker has yet to be identified, and it is unclear what motivated the assaults on Buscemi and Stuhlbarg. The incidents have prompted concern and outrage among residents and visitors to the city, as acts of random violence continue to occur. The Associated Press contributed to the report on the assaults, and Fox News Digital reached out to the NYPD for more information.

Buscemi’s publicist expressed his gratitude for the well-wishes received after the assault. Despite being saddened by the attacks, Buscemi remains appreciative of the support he has received. The attacks on Buscemi and Stuhlbarg raise concerns about safety in New York City and the need for increased awareness and prevention of random acts of violence. The incidents serve as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of such attacks and the importance of staying vigilant while walking the streets of the city. The NYPD is still investigating the assaults, and efforts are being made to identify and capture the attackers responsible.
