On Saturday, Steve Bannon condemned lawmakers with a four-word statement after the House of Representatives approved a bill to send more than $60 billion in aid to Ukraine. Bannon, a former White House chief strategist and ally of former President Donald Trump, criticized lawmakers as “Traitors One and All” on his Gettr account. His post included a video shared by Rep. Clay Higgins showing Democrats cheering on the House floor and waving Ukrainian flags. Higgins criticized the use of deficit money borrowed on the backs of American children, calling for people to wake up.

Despite opposition within the Republican Party, House Speaker Mike Johnson pushed through the bill, which was supported by 210 Democrats and 101 Republicans, but opposed by 112 Republicans. The bill will now go to the Senate for a vote, President Joe Biden has vowed to sign it into law promptly. Bannon also took aim at Johnson, calling him a “Sanctimonious Twerp” who had sold out his country to curry favor with globalist elites. Other Republicans, such as Rep. Majorie Taylor Greene, also expressed their anger on social media about the bill, with Greene accusing the House of Representatives of prioritizing Ukraine over American interests.

Greene posted a video of her colleagues waving Ukrainian flags in the House chamber, and criticized Johnson for his support of the aid to Ukraine, insinuating that he was not working in the best interests of the American people. She even introduced a motion to vacate Johnson from his position as House Speaker. Rep. Lauren Boebert also joined in on the criticism, calling the waving of Ukraine flags by colleagues embarrassing and suggesting that those who love Ukraine should go there instead of governing America. President Biden, on the other hand, expressed his support for the bill on social media, stating that members of both parties in the House had voted to advance national security interests by providing aid to Israel and Ukraine, as well as to those impacted by conflicts and disasters worldwide.

The bill to send aid to Ukraine and other allies was met with controversy and strong opinions from both sides of the political spectrum. While supporters like President Biden hailed it as a move to advance national security interests and provide critical support to allies, critics like Bannon and some Republicans viewed it as a betrayal of American interests and a sign of globalist influence. The debate over the bill’s passage reflects deeper divisions within the Republican Party and American politics at large, as lawmakers grapple with the balance between supporting allies abroad and addressing domestic needs and concerns.

The Senate is set to vote on the aid package next, with Biden eagerly anticipating its passage and implementation. The outcome of this vote and the ongoing debate over the aid to Ukraine will continue to shape political discourse and decision-making in the United States, highlighting the complexities of foreign policy and national security in an increasingly interconnected world. As tensions continue to rise between Russia and Ukraine, the decision to provide aid to Ukraine has become a point of contention and debate, with lawmakers and observers alike offering differing perspectives on the best course of action for the United States and its allies.
