If you receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits, you would have already received your May check on May 1. However, you are also scheduled to receive a second SSI check in just over two weeks. This is due to the fact that the Social Security Administration disburses SSI checks on the first of each month, but since June 1 falls on a Saturday, the June payments are being sent out a day early on Friday, May 31. As a result, you will not receive an additional payment in June. SSI benefits are intended for individuals with limited income and resources, as well as those who are blind, age 65 or older, or have a qualifying disability. Children who are blind or have disabilities may also be eligible for SSI benefits.

If you are new to receiving SSI benefits or are planning to apply for SSI in the future, it is helpful to know the schedule for when you can expect to receive your payments for the rest of 2024. The upcoming dates for SSI payments via direct deposit are as follows: Friday, May 31 (for June), Monday, July 1, Thursday, Aug. 1, Friday, Aug. 30 (for September), Tuesday, Oct. 1, Friday, Nov. 1, and Friday, Nov. 29 (for December). Additionally, if you receive other Social Security benefits, those payments will continue to be disbursed on their regular scheduled days, as they fall on Wednesdays.

It is important to note that SSI recipients may also be eligible for a payment boost later in the year. The amount of the boost will depend on various factors, such as changes in the cost of living. For individuals who receive other Social Security benefits, there are specific payment schedules in place based on when they first started receiving benefits and their birthdays. Social Security payments are disbursed on specific dates each month depending on these factors.

If you are interested in applying for additional benefits, such as your state’s TANF program or Social Security benefits for your child, it is important to familiarize yourself with the application process and eligibility requirements. By staying informed about the payment schedules for SSI and other Social Security benefits, you can better plan and manage your finances. Overall, understanding the various sources of financial assistance available to you can help ensure that you receive the support you need to maintain financial stability.
