Lumen Field in Seattle is now home to five new Fly Thru Market locations featuring Amazon’s Just Walk Out Technology. This addition provides Seattle Seahawks fans with more options for a cashierless shopping experience at the stadium. With a total of 13 concession stands and two retail shops powered by the checkout-free Just Walk Out system, Lumen Field now has more of this technology than any other sports venue in the world. The technology is made possible through overhead cameras that track people and the items they pick up, charging them as they exit the store.

The retail locations at Lumen Field featuring Just Walk Out technology sell a variety of items such as clothing, hats, fan gear, and other soft goods. They utilize radio-frequency identification (RFID) tags as part of the Just Walk Out experience to ensure a seamless shopping process. The first Just Walk Out store at the stadium opened in 2022 and has already seen a significant increase in customer throughput and total transactions per game compared to traditional concession stands. The new Just Walk Out store will be located next to Section 123, providing fans with convenient shopping options during games.

The Seahawks have reported a 32% increase in concession transactions per game at Lumen Field since implementing the Just Walk Out technology. This significant increase showcases the popularity and efficiency of the cashierless shopping experience at the stadium. Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology is now available in more than 80 sports stadiums and arenas across the U.S., U.K., Australia, and Canada, providing fans with a seamless and convenient shopping experience during events.

In addition to Lumen Field, other sports stadiums are also adopting Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology. Seven new Just Walk Out locations have been launched at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Md. for Washington Commanders fans, marking the most stores launched at once for a sports stadium. Just Walk Out will also debut at Baltimore’s M&T Bank Stadium this season, along with other stadiums such as Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C., EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla., and Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. The technology is continuing to expand its presence in sports venues across the country.

Amazon originally introduced its Go convenience store featuring Just Walk Out technology in 2018 in Seattle and has since sold the technology to third-party retailers operating their own stores. Just Walk Out is now available in over 180 third-party locations in the U.S., U.K., Canada, and Australia, spanning across various industries such as grocery stores, airport travel retailers, music and sports venues, theme parks, and college campuses. Amazon also announced plans to expand Just Walk Out to more university campuses in the U.S. and other countries, with over 30 stores on college campuses worldwide currently featuring the technology.

As Amazon continues to innovate and expand its Just Walk Out technology, the company recently announced that it will be removing this technology from most of its large-format Amazon Fresh grocery stores. Instead, Amazon will focus on its Dash Carts as a shopping solution for customers. With the success and popularity of Just Walk Out at sports stadiums, college campuses, and other locations, Amazon is continuing to explore new opportunities to provide customers with a convenient and efficient shopping experience without the need for traditional checkout lines.
