Sasha Pieterse, known for her role as Alison DiLaurentis on Pretty Little Liars, expressed interest in making a cameo on the spinoff series Pretty Little Liars: Summer School to tie up loose ends in her character’s story. She believes it would be fun to revisit Alison and potentially explore a new dynamic, such as Alison working as a teacher. Pieterse played Ali on the original series for all seven seasons and later reprised her role for PLL: The Perfectionists, which was canceled after one season.
Despite her excitement to continue Alison’s story, Pieterse had issues with some of the plot points in the spinoff, specifically the decision to have Alison and Emily divorce. She believes that in her version of Alison’s reality, Emison (Emily and Alison) is forever and should have worked through their issues. Pieterse also pointed out the absence of Ali and Emily’s twins on the show, which disappointed her as she felt it was an important aspect of their relationship.
Pieterse emphasized that Ali and Emily belong together as a unit and that their relationship is special and should be protected. She believes that despite the trauma and PTSD they faced in PLL, the characters would have eventually worked through their issues and stayed together. Pieterse feels that Alison has a lot of room for growth and that they would have overcome their challenges.
In addition to wanting to repair the Ali and Emily romance, Pieterse expressed interest in working with the new cast of PLL: Summer School, which has a darker and more horror-centric storyline. She praised the talent of the new cast members and expressed her enthusiasm for the show continuing on with a new generation of fans falling in love with the franchise all over again. While Pieterse may not be appearing on this season of Summer School, she is excited about the direction the show is taking.
Pieterse is currently promoting her new film, The Image of You, in which she plays twins Anna and Zoe who are polar opposites and find themselves at odds when Anna starts dating a new boyfriend. She believes that fans who enjoyed her portrayal of Alison on PLL will appreciate her performance in the film, as she sees shades of Alison in the character of Zoe. The Image of You is currently in theaters, showcasing Pieterse’s versatility as an actress beyond her iconic role on Pretty Little Liars.
