Samsung is introducing the Galaxy A16 phone and the Galaxy Fit 3 fitness tracker to the US market, with the A16 receiving six years of software and security updates. This makes the Galaxy A16 one of the most affordable phones to offer a commitment to updates lasting longer than five years. The phone, which has already been released in other regions, will be available in the US starting on Jan. 9. The Galaxy A16 features a larger 6.7-inch display with a 90Hz refresh rate and is powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 1330 processor.
The Galaxy A16 comes equipped with a 50-megapixel wide lens, a 5-megapixel ultrawide lens, a 2-megapixel macro lens, and a 13-megapixel front-facing camera. It also includes a 25W wired charging speed, a 5,000mAh battery, and 128GB of storage with 4GB of RAM, along with a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 1.5TB. This phone continues Samsung’s line of entry-level handsets, which are popular in the US market. The previous model, the Galaxy A15, was the fifth best-selling smartphone in the US as of September 2024, behind four iPhone models from Apple.
