Ryan Gosling and Mikey Day recently made a splash on the red carpet for the premiere of The Fall Guy by dressing up as Beavis and Butt-Head, the iconic cartoon characters, in full prosthetics. This was a continuation of a now-viral skit they performed on Saturday Night Live (SNL). The actors walked the red carpet in character, maintaining straight faces and looking confused as they posed for photos. Eventually, Gosling changed into a mint green suit for a second walk down the red carpet, but the Beavis and Butt-Head moment continued to be a highlight of the night.

The Beavis and Butt-Head sketch first aired during an episode of SNL on April 13 and quickly gained attention, especially after cast member Heidi Gardner broke character during the live show. The sketch featured Gosling and Day as audience members during a NewsNation livestream event focused on AI, where Kenan Thompson was portraying a tech mogul. Gardner, playing the host, couldn’t help but laugh when she saw Gosling and Day in their costumes, causing Gosling to giggle throughout the rest of the skit.

Following the success of the “Beavis and Butt-Head” sketch, Gosling had difficulty keeping a straight face during the rest of the SNL performance. One memorable moment came during a sketch called “Doctor” with Bowen Yang, where Gosling and Yang, both wearing long wigs, had to inform a family that their loved one did not survive. Yang revealed that the wig they used was a last-minute addition and Gosling’s comedic antics during the skit caused cast member Gardner to break character once again.

Speaking exclusively to Us Weekly, Yang expressed his surprise at Gosling’s comedic performance, particularly during the “Doctor” sketch. He mentioned that the sketch followed the “Beavis and Butt-Head” skit, which helped set the comedic tone for the rest of the show. Yang also praised the show’s hair department for coming up with the wigs for the sketch, which added to the humor of the scene. Gardner, who had already broken character during the “Beavis and Butt-Head” sketch, reportedly struggled to maintain her composure during the “Doctor” sketch.

Overall, Gosling and Day’s portrayal of Beavis and Butt-Head on SNL and at The Fall Guy red carpet premiere was well-received by fans and brought a fun and nostalgic element to the proceedings. The actors’ commitment to the bit, as well as their ability to maintain character while facing challenges like breaking character or dressing in prosthetics, added to the humor and charm of their performances. The “Beavis and Butt-Head” sketches on SNL and the subsequent red carpet appearance showcased Gosling and Day’s comedic chemistry and their willingness to embrace lighthearted and quirky roles.
