Ryan Dorsey is mourning the death of Emmy, his and late ex-wife Naya Rivera’s dog. In an Instagram post, he shared a montage of photos featuring Rivera, their son Josey, and Emmy, set to “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” from The Wizard of Oz. Dorsey expressed his sadness at finding Emmy at her final resting place and remembered the day they picked her up as a puppy, describing her as sweet and quiet.

He recalled the moment Emmy was brought home, with her real mother following them to the door as he carried her alongside her new mother. Despite initial sadness at taking her from her mom, Emmy quickly became a beloved part of their family. Dorsey described Emmy as the sweetest and most quiet dog, who often joined him on set and didn’t care about any distractions. He shared fond memories of their time together, describing Emmy as his road dog and emotional support animal through it all.

Dorsey, who was married to Rivera from 2014 to 2018 and shares son Josey with her, has been mourning the loss of Emmy since her passing. In his Instagram post, he thanked Emmy for all the love and cuddles and expressed his hope that she would keep his late ex-wife company on the other side of the rainbow. Since Rivera’s tragic death in 2020, Dorsey has shared glimpses of his bond with Josey, including welcoming a new goldendoodle puppy into their family as an early birthday present for his son.

The former couple had welcomed Josey in 2015 and continued to co-parent him after their divorce. Rivera tragically passed away at the age of 33 in July 2020 after drowning while swimming at Lake Piru in California with Josey. Her body was recovered after a five-day search. Dorsey has been open about his grief over losing Rivera and has been focused on providing a stable and loving environment for their son. He shared heartwarming moments with Josey, including introducing him to their new puppy and honoring the memory of Emmy with a touching tribute on social media.

Through his Instagram post, Dorsey paid a heartfelt tribute to Emmy, reflecting on their special bond and the impact she had on their family. He thanked Emmy for being a loving companion and emotional support throughout their time together. Dorsey’s sincere words of love and appreciation for his late ex-wife’s dog demonstrate the lasting impact that pets can have on their owners’ lives, even after they are no longer physically present. In the face of loss and sorrow, Dorsey finds solace in remembering the joy and love that Emmy brought to their family.
