President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine called for urgent air-defense systems after Russian strikes resulted in casualties across the country. The Ukrainian Air Force claimed to have shot down 49 out of 116 Shahed-type drones launched by Russia in addition to defending against ballistic and guided aerial missiles. The city of Kyiv also faced attacks from Russian drones, but all were successfully destroyed, with one man sustaining facial burns. Tragically, two individuals in their 70s were found dead under rubble in the village of Novoplatonivka, and one person was killed in Sumy due to attacks on critical infrastructure facilities.
