Global Data Risk, a financial investigation firm, has agreed to a reduction in Rudy Giuliani’s $324,843 bill for a bankruptcy probe. The firm filed an emergency application seeking approval from a bankruptcy court for the deal struck with Giuliani’s bankruptcy trustee. Giuliani, however, claims he was overcharged by more than $150,000. Giuliani declared bankruptcy after a jury awarded $148 million to two Georgia election workers who won a defamation lawsuit against him for false accusations made while he was an attorney for Donald Trump.

The reduction in Giuliani’s fees comes after a formal objection was filed by his lawyer, accusing Global Data Risk of overcharging him by $151,000. Giuliani’s legal team alleged that the firm engaged in duplicative billing. Global Data Risk had been hired by Giuliani’s bankruptcy creditors to investigate his finances and ensure he was not hiding assets or income. Despite agreeing to reduce the fees, Giuliani has not yet agreed to the deal. Judge Sean Lane has allowed Giuliani to cancel his bankruptcy application but ruled that Global Data Risk must first be paid for their financial investigations.

Global Data Risk revealed the terms of the agreement they reached on Giuliani’s fees with the U.S Trustee, the government office that monitors bankruptcy cases. They informed the court that they voluntarily agreed to reduce the amount of fees and expenses they were seeking approval for. The resolution came just before Global Data Risk was set to file a response to Giuliani’s claim of being overcharged. With the U.S. Trustee’s concerns now resolved, Giuliani’s formal objection to Global Data Risk’s fees is the last obstacle in ending the dispute.

Giuliani, a former New York City Mayor, has been seeking a reduction in the amount he has to pay Global Data Risk for their financial investigation services. Despite his objection to the fees being charged, the firm has agreed to a reduction, which was reached after discussions with the U.S Trustee. Giuliani had filed for bankruptcy following the defamation lawsuit brought against him by two Georgia election workers. The reduction in fees comes after a formal objection was filed by Giuliani’s lawyer accusing Global Data Risk of overcharging him by $151,000.

The deal on Giuliani’s fees with Global Data Risk was reached just before the firm was set to file a response to his claim of being overcharged. The U.S. Trustee raised concerns about Global Data Risk’s fees, leading to discussions that ultimately resulted in a voluntary reduction in the amount sought for approval. With the U.S. Trustee’s concerns resolved, the only remaining obstacle to ending the dispute is Giuliani’s formal objection to the fees. Despite the reduction in fees, Giuliani has not yet agreed to the deal, claiming he was overcharged by more than $150,000.
