A Pennsylvania man, Joshua Moser, was charged with murder after his roommate, David Hittinger, was reported missing and later found dismembered. Hittinger had last been seen at Moser’s home on May 11, and had moved in with him recently. Hittinger was reported missing on May 12, after not being heard from since the night of May 11. His remains were discovered in garbage bags at a local cemetery, along a trail, and at a small quarry nearby. The medical examiner determined Hittinger’s manner of death to be a homicide.

Caydence Waterhouse, Moser’s neighbor, reported hearing yelling coming from Moser’s home on May 12, one day before Hittinger was reported missing. She heard Moser saying, “Get the F out of here, you don’t belong here,” but did not hear anyone talking back to him. Authorities conducted a search of Moser’s home and found evidence including blood and hair, with an alleged effort to conceal blood in the basement. A saw, a box cutter, and clothing with blood on it were also found during a second search. State police stated that Moser confessed to strangling Hittinger and hitting him in the head with a hammer.

The District Attorney did not mention a motive for the killing, but noted that there “appears to have been some sort of disagreement” that led to Hittinger’s demise. Moser was taken into custody on an unrelated charge the same day that the evidence was found. He is now being held without bail. The autopsy on Hittinger’s body is still ongoing, but the medical examiner has ruled his death as a homicide. Moser has been charged with criminal homicide, abuse of a corpse, and tampering/fabricating evidence in connection with Hittinger’s death.

The tragic events surrounding Hittinger’s disappearance and death have shocked the community, with neighbors recalling hearing disturbances coming from Moser’s home leading up to the discovery of Hittinger’s remains. The gruesome nature of the crime and the alleged confession by Moser have left many wondering what could have led to such a violent act. The ongoing investigation will hopefully provide more answers and bring some closure to those affected by this horrific crime.

The details of the case, including the discovery of Hittinger’s dismembered body parts and the evidence found at Moser’s home, paint a chilling picture of the events that unfolded leading up to the arrest of Moser. The alleged brutality of the crime and the attempts to conceal evidence suggest a calculated and disturbing act of violence. The lack of a stated motive only adds to the mystery surrounding the case, leaving many questions unanswered as the investigation continues.

As Moser remains in custody awaiting trial, the community grapples with the shock and horror of Hittinger’s death. The search for justice for Hittinger and his loved ones is ongoing, with the legal process following its course. The profound impact of this tragic case serves as a stark reminder of the fragility of life and the need for vigilance in ensuring the safety and well-being of all members of the community.
