Actor Robert De Niro and other supporters of Vice President Kamala Harris visited Philadelphia Eagles fans’ tailgates outside Lincoln Financial Field to promote Harris’ campaign platform. Former Secretary of State John Kerry, Rep. Mary Gay Scanlon, and Michael Embrich, who is a former policy adviser, were also in attendance. De Niro, who had played an Eagles fan in the movie “Silver Linings Playbook,” spoke to the fans and emphasized Harris’ views. The Harris campaign has been active in Pennsylvania ahead of the election, with the Democratic National Committee flying banners in support of Harris while Trump’s campaign aired ads during Eagles games.

A recent Fox News Poll showed Harris and Trump tied among likely voters in Pennsylvania, each at 48%, with only 3% indicating support for a third party candidate. In September, Trump held a 1-point lead over Harris. Trump also leads by 1 point in a two-way matchup among likely voters, but Harris is ahead by 2 points among registered voters. Trump narrowly won the state in 2016, and President Joe Biden won it in 2020 by just over one point. De Niro, a vocal opponent of Trump since his presidential bid, has voiced concerns about the upcoming election and urged everyone to vote.

De Niro expressed worry about the upcoming election at the New York premiere of “Megalopolis,” citing parallels with Trump’s presidency in the film. He emphasized the importance of defeating Trump and the Republican Party to prevent another term for the current president. De Niro’s concerns and calls for action come in the midst of a contentious election season and a closely watched race in Pennsylvania. The state has historically been a battleground in presidential elections, with Trump winning by a slim margin in 2016 and Biden narrowly defeating him in 2020.

The event at the Eagles tailgates showcased the support for Harris and the Democratic Party in Pennsylvania, with prominent figures like De Niro and Kerry making appearances to interact with voters. Their efforts to engage with the public and encourage voter turnout reflect the high stakes of the upcoming election and the importance of Pennsylvania in determining the outcome. As the race tightens and tensions rise, campaigns ramp up their efforts to secure votes and sway undecided voters, making events like the one at Lincoln Financial Field crucial in shaping public opinion and mobilizing supporters.

De Niro’s presence at the tailgates and his advocacy for Harris underscore the significance of celebrity endorsements and public figures’ involvement in political campaigns. As a well-known actor and staunch critic of Trump, De Niro’s involvement can draw attention to the issues at stake in the election and influence public opinion. By speaking to Eagles fans and emphasizing the importance of voting, De Niro and other supporters of Harris aim to galvanize support and mobilize voters in Pennsylvania and beyond. As the election draws near and tensions rise, every effort to engage voters and secure support becomes crucial in shaping the future direction of the country.
