Two of the best drivers to never win a Nascar Cup Series championship have received the honor of being elected to the Nascar Hall of Fame class of 2025. Carl Edwards and Ricky Rudd were voted in alongside Ralph Moody and Dr. Dean Sicking, who received the Landmark Award for Outstanding Contributions to Nascar.

Edwards, who competed for Roush Fenway Racing and Joe Gibbs Racing, won 28 Cup Series races and 38 Xfinity Series victories during his career. Despite never winning a Cup Series title, he came close on multiple occasions, finishing as runner-up in the championship standings to Jimmie Johnson in 2008 and Tony Stewart in 2011.

Rudd, known for his toughness and consistency, raced for various teams including Hendrick Motorsports and Robert Yates Racing. With 906 Cup starts, he was known as Mr. Consistency, achieving at least one win per year for 16 consecutive seasons. Rudd received 87% of the Modern Era ballot votes, while Edwards earned 52%. Moody, a key part of the Holman-Moody operation, was also elected to the Hall of Fame for his contributions to Nascar.

Dr. Dean Sicking, the creator of the life-saving SAFER barrier, was honored with the Landmark Award for his contributions to Nascar safety. The SAFER barrier, now a requirement at all Nascar tracks, has had a significant impact on saving lives in the sport. Sicking’s work in track safety has been recognized with the Bill France Award of Excellence in 2003 and the National Medal of Technology and Innovation by President George W. Bush in 2005.

The 2025 Nascar Hall of Fame induction ceremony is set to take place on Friday, Feb. 7, 2025. The event will honor the achievements and contributions of the inductees, celebrating their impact on Nascar and the sport’s history. Fans and fellow competitors will come together to acknowledge the legacies of these individuals and their lasting impact on Nascar.

Overall, the induction of Carl Edwards and Ricky Rudd into the Nascar Hall of Fame class of 2025 is a well-deserved honor for two of the sport’s most accomplished drivers. Their careers, marked by success and resilience, have left a lasting legacy in Nascar history. Alongside Moody and Sicking, these individuals have made significant contributions to Nascar, further solidifying their places in the sport’s prestigious Hall of Fame.
