Suspected Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann was reported to have visited a Long Island gun club the day before one of his alleged victims, Jessica Taylor, disappeared and days before her remains were found in nearby woods. According to a day planner, Heuermann was scheduled to attend a rifle training event at the Peconic River Sportsman’s Club in Manorville on July 20, 2003. Taylor’s partial remains were found about a mile from the edge of the gun club property on July 26, 2003. Heuermann, who was charged with second-degree murder in Taylor’s death in an indictment unveiled on Thursday, had connections to multiple shooting clubs in the area.

Heuermann pleaded not guilty to the charges last week. A spokesperson for the Peconic River Sportsman’s Club stated that while Heuermann had attended a few public events in the early 2000s, he was never a member of the club. He last visited for a shooting competition in April 2010. The spokesperson clarified that although Heuermann was not a club member, he had participated in a few high-powered rifle events at the club that were open to the public.

The connection between Heuermann’s visit to the gun club and Taylor’s disappearance and subsequent death has raised suspicions about his involvement in the Gilgo Beach murders. The case involved the discovery of multiple bodies along Ocean Parkway near Gilgo Beach, which began in 2010. Investigators have suggested that Taylor’s death may be linked to these serial killings. Heuermann’s presence at the gun club around the time of Taylor’s disappearance adds to the circumstantial evidence pointing towards his possible involvement in the murders.

The revelation of Heuermann’s activities at the gun club has led to increased scrutiny of his background and potential motives for the murders. Law enforcement sources have indicated that Heuermann’s participation in shooting clubs in the area may have played a role in the planning and execution of the crimes. The timeline of events surrounding Taylor’s disappearance and subsequent discovery also points to a potential connection between Heuermann’s activities and the location of the victim’s remains.

Despite the mounting evidence against him, Heuermann continues to maintain his innocence in Taylor’s murder. The ongoing investigation into the Gilgo Beach murders is likely to focus on uncovering additional details about Heuermann’s movements and connections during the time frame in question. With new information emerging about his involvement with the gun club and shooting events in the area, investigators will continue to piece together the puzzle of what happened to Jessica Taylor and the other victims found along Ocean Parkway. As the case unfolds, the truth behind these gruesome crimes may finally be revealed.
