Spencer Rascoff, the tech veteran who co-founded and led Seattle-based real estate company Zillow Group, has been named CEO of Match Group, the company announced Tuesday.

Dallas-based Match Group runs a portfolio of leading dating apps including Match.com, Tinder, Hinge, OkCupid, and Pairs. Rascoff has served as a member of the company’s board since March 2024. He succeeds Bernard Kim, who is stepping down as CEO and as a member of the board.

“This is a company built on innovation, and its portfolio of iconic brands continues to redefine how people connect,” Rascoff said in a statement. “As the industry leader, Match Group has set the standard for innovation in dating and relationships, and I’m excited to build on that momentum to bring new experiences to tens of millions of users worldwide.”

Rascoff co-founded Zillow in 2005 and served as CEO for almost 10 years before stepping down in February 2019. He resigned from the company’s board about a year later. Under his leadership, Zillow went through an IPO and the company grew from 200 to more than 4,000 employees. Annual revenue increased from $30 million to $1.3 billion, and Zillow acquired 15 companies.

Rascoff also co-founded the online travel marketplace Hotwire, and Pacaso, a real estate startup that aimed to make it easier for more people to own a vacation home. He was co-founder and executive chairman of media and events company dotLA and he even launched a food-focused social media startup with his teen daughter, called Recon Food.

Rascoff has been an active investor and advisor to numerous technology companies, serving on such boards as Palantir, TripAdvisor, and Zulily.
