Despite questioning, Daosavanh did not offer a location, police say, and a body was never recovered, nor was any physical evidence that his mother was murdered.Police say they now have more evidence leading them to believe a murder occurred in Daosavanh’s apartment, in or about August 2014. An arrest warrant was issued and Daosavanh was taken into custody by the Northeast Patrol Division Crime Suppression Team and brought to Harris County Jail on August 1.Despite not having a body, prosecutors believe they have enough evidence to charge Daosavanh with her murder.Houston PD and the prosecutors have not elaborated on what new evidence was obtained, according to ABC13.Assistant District Attorney Samantha Knect told ABC13 that the case was “certainly going to be a challenge” but the office remained optimistic about their ability to prove the charges.”The law allows us to charge a person with murder even if we don’t have a body if we can prove the crime beyond a reasonable doubt, and in this case, we believe we can do so,” she said.Daosavanh’s girlfriend and others in his life expressed disbelief and have vouched for his innocence, ABC13 reported.”Can’t make me believe it. Donny’s a good dude. I don’t I don’t think he killed nobody’s mother,” his coworker Troy Bevel told the outlet, adding that he considered Daosavanh to be like a younger brother. The local outlet also spoke to the mother of his daughter, who was reportedly “not shocked” and told ABC13 that the pair had been in a legal dispute over child support payments. The judge set Daosavanh’s bond at $500,000 on August 5, when Daosavanh appeared in court.Do you have a story we should be covering?
