The Asteroid City actress revealed what she really thought of a controversial joke that husband Colin Jost made about her during a joke swap with his Weekend Update cohost Michael Che on Saturday Night Live in December.
“I just can’t believe that they went there,” Scarlett told InStyle in an interview published March 11. “It was so vulgar. It was so gross. It was really gross. And, like, old-school gross.”
E! News has reached out to SNL for comment and hasn’t heard back.
During the exchange, Colin said, “Costco has removed the roast beef sandwich from its menu. But I ain’t trippin’. I’ve been eating roast beef every night since my wife had the kid,” before the camera cut to Scarlett backstage at SNL, where she mouthed, “Oh my God.”
“No, no, I’m just playin’, baby,” her husband continued. “You know I don’t go downtown.”
The camera cut back to the Black Widow actress—mom to son Cosmo, 3, with Colin and daughter Rose, 10, with Romain Dauriac—who audibly gasped in response. And, while she was given a heads up that Michael had written a “vagina joke” about her, she didn’t expect it to go so far.
