Disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein pleaded with a Manhattan judge Wednesday morning to move up his new sex assault trial because he “can’t hold on anymore” holed up on Rikers Island.
“I’m holding on because I want justice for myself, and I want this to be over with,” added Weinstein, 72, speaking from a wheelchair behind his defense table as he addressed Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Curtis Farber.
Weinstein spoke for about five minutes, detailing his chronic health struggles — which include a cancer diagnosis and diabetes.
The judge set Weinstein’s new trial date for April 15, a week earlier than it was supposed to kick off.
Weinstein urged the judge to delay another trial so he can get out of the “hellhole” known as Rikers Island “as quickly as possible.”
“I won’t be there for April,” he warned ominously.
“I’m a serious emergency situation. I am begging the court to move your date,” Weinstein said.
He has been hospitalized a handful of times in recent months following a slew of serious ailments — including emergency heart surgery, diabetes, spinal stenosis and a recent cancer diagnosis.
Weinstein was convicted in 2020 of first-degree criminal sexual act and third-degree rape and sentenced to 23 years in prison in New York — but his conviction was overturned on appeal last April.
Weinstein remains behind bars due to a 2022 Los Angeles conviction on another rape. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
