April is coming to a close, but there are still some exciting new movies and TV shows to look forward to this week. Dead Boy Detectives is a Netflix series that combines teen ghosts and mysteries in the same universe as The Sandman. Based on characters created for DC by Neil Gaiman and Matt Wagner, all eight episodes of this mystery-solving series will premiere at once. Another highlight this week is the Sonic the Hedgehog spinoff series on Paramount Plus, featuring the red echidna Knuckles voiced by Idris Elba.
Disney Plus is also adding Disneynature: Tiger to its streaming lineup on April 22, just in time for Earth Day. This nature documentary introduces viewers to a young tigress named Ambar and her cubs, narrated by Priyanka Chopra Jonas. Meanwhile, on Prime Video, the horror anthology series Them returns for a second season titled Them: The Scare, set in 1991 and starring Deborah Ayorinde as LAPD homicide detective Dawn Reeve. The entire eight-episode season will be available on Thursday.
In addition, Hulu is premiering Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story, a four-part docuseries about the iconic rock band and its frontman. The series covers both the past and future of Bon Jovi, featuring personal videos, unreleased early demos, and catching up with the band in February 2022. On Netflix, a Japanese live-action adaptation of the popular manga City Hunter will be released, following the adventures of Ryo Saeba, a “sweeper” who cleans up trouble in modern-day Shinjuku, Tokyo.
While Netflix had previously teased the release of the rom-com Anyone but You starring Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell on Tuesday, the announcement has since been deleted, leaving fans unsure if the film will premiere this week. However, viewers can still enjoy the new shows and films coming to streaming services from April 22 to 28. From mysteries with teen ghosts to nature documentaries, and horror anthologies to rock band docuseries, there’s something for everyone to enjoy on their streaming calendar this week.
