Jolie, 49, then confirmed she really did once harbor funeral-director aspirations, joking, “Doesn’t it make sense though?”The actress, who is currently promoting her turn as Maria Callas in the biopic Maria, went on to explain how she came to the conclusion she would do well in the odd job after her grandfather died. “I remember thinking this is not how they should be,” she said of funeral services. “This should be a celebration of life.””And since I’m not afraid of death and I was comfortable with it,” she continued, “I thought, ‘This would be a great career path for me. … I could, like, make this better. I could do a thing here.'”When Fallon, 50, agreed that “we need more people like that,” Jolie deadpanned: “It’s my fallback career now.”In a 2011 interview with the news program 60 Minutes, Jolie acknowledged that becoming a funeral director “sounds like this very strange, eccentric, dark thing to do,” but noted she was “very upset” following her grandfather’s funeral. “So we discussed that maybe there are ways where this whole idea of how somebody passes and how a family deals with this passing and what death is should be addressed in a different way.”While Jolie has since become an A-list star and devoted mother to her six kids, she was for a time infamous as a Hollywood wild child. During her three-year marriage to Billy Bob Thornton that ended in 2003, the couple raised eyebrows when they both wore clear lockets filled with each other’s blood.”She thought it would be interesting and romantic if we took a little razor blade and sliced our fingers, smeared a little blood on these lockets, and you wear it around your neck just like you wear your son or daughter’s baby hair in one,” Thornton, 69, has said of the bizarre necklaces.
