“The Detroit Tigers and Boston Red Sox have aggressively pursued Bregman this winter, with the Red Sox offering a four-year deal, according to the Boston Globe, while the Tigers are offering at least a five- or six-year deal,” Nightengale wrote. “It now may be down to whether Bregman wants to receive a lucrative contract from the Detroit Tigers and play for former Astros manager A.J. Hinch, or go to second base and play in Boston for former Astros bench coach Alex Cora.”Detroit’s president of baseball operations Scott Harris recently confirmed the fact that the Tigers are still looking to buy this winter, furthering the idea that Bregman could be headed to Detroit.”We’re not done,” Harris told reporters on a Zoom call last Thursday. “We’re going to try to find new ways to make this team better, and there are a number of ways to do it. … Bullpen and our lineup are two areas we’re going to look to upgrade if we can.”With all this in mind and the fact that Detroit is seemingly the only team willing to offer the superstar infielder a deal of five years or longer, it is safe to say the Tigers are the favorites in the Bregman sweepstakes at this point in time.More MLB: Braves Linked To Blockbuster Trade For Pair Of Padres’ Talented Aces
