In the world of Christian media, St. Paul’s words in 2 Corinthians 4:13 serve as an inspiration for individuals like Troy Miller, president and CEO of the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB). The NRB is an international association of Christian communicators with a mission to spread the good news of Jesus Christ to millions of viewers, listeners, and readers. For those in the media, their purpose goes beyond audience engagement or promoting a cause – it is about participating in God’s work of extending grace to more and more people for His glory.

Despite the beauty and simplicity of their calling, working for God’s glory can often feel complicated. There may be misunderstandings, lack of recognition, or a sense of discouragement when efforts don’t bear fruit right away. Miller acknowledges that as long as we live on earth, we will experience tension, strain, and pain in our lives and relationships. It can be tempting to avoid uncomfortable truths to maintain unity, but Christians are called to stand firm on the solid rock of Jesus Christ, even in the face of adversity.

Unity in faith is a foundation created by God, not a man-made aspiration. This should give Christians the courage to stand on the whole counsel of God, knowing that our savior is always with us through the storms of life. St. Paul’s reminder in 2 Corinthians about having a building from God, eternal in the heavens, serves as a reassurance that even if our earthly homes or reputations are threatened, we have the promise of eternal glory in God’s hands. Our challenges on earth are transformed for good to prepare us for the full presence of God.

In addition to standing firm in their faith, Christians in the media are called to be humble. Humility allows them to recognize the small size of their efforts compared to God’s eternal plans and purposes. The mission is to believe, to speak, and to carry the heritage of faith to all generations. Ultimately, our Lord is holding together the family of faith, and Christians are called to trust in His promise of eternal glory and to continue spreading the good news of Jesus Christ to a world in need of hope and grace.
