Disturbing footage captured the moment when Emmanuel Espinoza, a 21-year-old Florida pre-med student, concealed a knife behind his back as he walked to his mom’s front door before stabbing her more than 70 times. He was heading to a family event for his grandfather when his mom, Elvia Espinoza, 46, asked if he would stay with her for the weekend at her home two hours south of Orlando.
The shocking video shows Espinoza casually walking up to his mom’s front door at about 2 p.m. wearing dark shades, light blue jeans, and a navy blue shirt. As he walks, Espinoza can be seen concealing something in his left hand, and upon reaching the door, it is evident that he is holding a knife. He attempts to open the door and is finally greeted by his unsuspecting mother.
Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd revealed that Espinoza had been listening to music by Jay Z and Kanye West as he approached the home, and when his mom opened the door, he charged in and started stabbing her. He knew where to stab her for maximum effect due to his biology classes. His mother, screaming ‘Manny, Manny, Manny,’ was stabbed in excess of 70 times as Espinoza remained silent throughout the ordeal.
In a chilling confession, Espinoza admitted that while he loved his mother, he had been angry with her and wanted to kill her for years. Even after stabbing her multiple times, he continued as she attempted to get up off the floor. Espinoza even noticed that her hands were still moving and stabbed her more. He confessed that he cut his hand on the knife during the attack and washed himself off at the kitchen sink, realizing his mother was dead when she couldn’t provide Neosporin for his wound.
Following the gruesome murder, Espinoza called 911 and confessed to dispatchers about the tragedy. He has been charged with first-degree murder and is currently in Polk County Jail.
