To play the Powerball, players must purchase a $2 ticket from a local convenience store, gas station, grocery store, or in some states, online. Players must pick six numbers in total, five white balls ranging from 1 to 69 and one red Powerball number ranging from 1 to 26. Players can increase their chances of winning by adding a “Power Play” for $1, which multiplies winnings for all non-jackpot prizes. Drawings are held on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday nights, and if there is no jackpot winner, the cash prize will increase.
Tickets can be purchased in person at gas stations, convenience stores, grocery stores, and even some airport terminals. In select U.S. states and territories, players can also order tickets online through Jackpocket, the official digital lottery courier of the USA TODAY Network.
