Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are celebrating their sixth wedding anniversary, having tied the knot in a fairytale royal wedding ceremony at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle in 2018. The couple has shared intimate details about their relationship and the historic wedding through interviews and media projects. The Harry & Meghan Netflix docuseries, released in 2022, provided fans with private images and video footage from their wedding day, showcasing important moments like the cutting of the wedding cake and their first dance.

The couple’s wedding took place at St. George’s Chapel, a historic site of worship within the precinct of Windsor Castle. The chapel has been the venue for many important royal weddings in the past, including King Edward VII’s marriage to Princess Alexandra of Denmark in 1863. In 2005, King Charles III also had his marriage to Camilla Parker Bowles blessed at the chapel. Harry and Meghan invited 600 guests to witness their marriage, including members of the extended royal family, friends, and high-profile figures from Hollywood, music, and sports.

On the day of the wedding, Prince Harry and Prince William arrived at the chapel on foot before taking their places at the high altar to await Meghan. When Meghan walked down the aisle, her Givenchy wedding gown was revealed, accessorized with an abbey-length lace veil embroidered with the flowers of the Commonwealth nations and the California poppy. Queen Elizabeth II loaned Meghan an antique diamond tiara to complete her bridal look.

During the ceremony, Meghan was met halfway to the altar by her future father-in-law, King Charles III, in a touching moment captured on camera. The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, officiated the vows exchanged by the royal couple, leading to cheers from the crowds outside the chapel. Following the ceremony, Harry and Meghan had two wedding receptions, one of which was hosted by Queen Elizabeth II in St. George’s Hall inside Windsor Castle, where Sir Elton John performed for the guests.

In the evening, the couple’s reception took place in a tent at Frogmore House, where Harry changed into black tie and Meghan wore a white evening gown designed by Stella McCartney. Their first dance was to the 1967 song “I’m in Love” by Wilson Pickett. The evening concluded with a fireworks display on the lawns of Frogmore House, with Harry and Meghan joining their guests to watch. Images of the display were later used for the couple’s first official Christmas card and featured in their Netflix docuseries, providing a glimpse into their magical wedding day.
