A Spirit Airlines passenger was escorted off a plane at the Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas after displaying disruptive and threatening behavior towards fellow passengers. The passenger, Lonnieka Dillard, was removed from the California-bound flight after allegedly cursing, growling, and snapping her teeth at other travelers. Police were called to the scene by a Spirit supervisor who deemed Dillard’s behavior as a threat to the safety of other passengers.

Dillard was confronted by law enforcement officers who calmly requested her to gather her belongings and exit the aircraft. Despite their efforts to reason with her, Dillard began yelling and making racist statements towards the officers. She also allegedly lunged and made biting motions towards the officers when they tried to handcuff her. Several officers had to physically remove Dillard from the plane, causing the crew to evacuate other passengers to ensure a safe exit from the aircraft.

During the incident, a viral video captured Dillard screaming at officers, claiming she couldn’t breathe, before being informed by a flight attendant that everyone needed to deplane. Dillard was eventually taken into custody and charged with violating airport rules. Following her arrest, she was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court at the Clark County Justice Court on May 29. Spirit Airlines also banned Dillard from rebooking another flight with the airline due to her behavior on the plane.

The flight crew onboard the aircraft reported witnessing Dillard snapping her teeth at passengers, behaving erratically, and making racist and random statements towards the officers. The Spirit supervisor who made the initial call to police documented these behaviors in the arrest record. Despite attempts to deescalate the situation, Dillard continued to exhibit aggressive behavior towards both passengers and law enforcement.

Dillard’s arrest and removal from the plane caused a delay in the flight as other passengers were evacuated to allow officers to escort her off the aircraft. The situation escalated when Dillard refused to comply with police requests, prompting further intervention to ensure the safety and well-being of all passengers onboard. The incident highlights the challenges faced by airlines and law enforcement in managing disruptive behavior and ensuring the safety of passengers during flights.
