PairTree is a startup based in Seattle that matches expectant mothers with families looking to adopt. Recently, the company raised $650,000 in funding to expand its services into a full-service platform that supports various aspects of the adoption process. Investors in PairTree include Urban Innovation Group, Trust Ventures, and Cubit Capital, bringing the total funding to $7.85 million. The goal of PairTree is to connect adoption professionals, such as lawyers and agencies, onto their platform to streamline the adoption process for families nationwide.

In an effort to create positive change in the adoption industry, PairTree aims to bring all participants in the adoption process onto one online platform. This includes adoption professionals and state-licensed workers who conduct home studies to screen and approve families looking to adopt. By hosting only ethical and licensed adoption professionals on their site, PairTree provides a quality-controlled environment for families hoping to adopt. Currently, the platform has 16 agencies, attorneys, and home study providers signed on, with the goal of reaching 30 by the end of the year.

The founder and CEO of PairTree, Erin Quick, was inspired to start the company in 2020 due to her own challenging and costly adoption journey. Originally marketed as a cheaper and faster alternative to traditional adoptions, PairTree continues to provide streamlined services even when families hire adoption professionals. Families looking to adopt pay PairTree for packages that can include profile creation, social media promotion, adoption education, and home studies. Quick is also working to establish the National Consortium of Ethical Adoption Professionals, aimed at protecting against scams and providing support for birth mothers.

As part of its commitment to ethical adoption practices, PairTree is dedicated to serving a diverse range of families, including LGBTQ families and those with different religious beliefs. The company’s team includes individuals who have personal experience with the adoption process, allowing them to provide advice and support to expectant mothers. PairTree also donates 5% of fees paid by adopting families to organizations that support birth mothers. The company’s values align with those of the National Consortium of Ethical Adoption Professionals and it is working to establish safeguards to protect all parties involved in the adoption process.

PairTree’s vision is to create a more connected and streamlined adoption process by bringing all participants onto one online platform. By providing a quality-controlled environment that hosts ethical and licensed adoption professionals, the company aims to improve the overall adoption experience for families nationwide. With a commitment to diversity and ethical practices, PairTree is working towards creating a more transparent and supportive adoption industry.
