Connections, a word game developed by Wyna Liu and popularized by The New York Times, has become the second-most played word game by the publication following the success of Wordle. Liu, who is also the crossword editor at The New York Times, expressed her surprise and excitement over the game’s unexpected popularity. She advises players to wait as long as possible before guessing in order to conquer the game successfully.

In Connections, players are presented with a grid of 16 words and tasked with creating four groups of four based on similar characteristics. Each group is linked to a specific category, with difficulty levels ranging from yellow (easiest) to purple (most difficult). The game does not have a time limit, allowing players to spend as much time as they need to solve the puzzle. However, players are only given four chances to win, and incorrect guesses will result in words remaining on the grid.

For Saturday’s puzzle, players are provided with hints to help them connect the words to their corresponding categories. The yellow category involves words related to individuals who can predict the future, the green category describes words that are used to describe something extraordinary, the blue category includes terms associated with praising someone, and the purple category is linked to an adverb beginning with “e”. As players work through the puzzle, they can use the “Shuffle” button to reorganize the words and give their brains a reset.

The answers to Saturday’s Connections puzzle include words such as “clairvoyant,” “special edition adjectives,” “great job,” and “extremely,” along with their corresponding category colors. If players did not get the puzzle correct, they are encouraged not to worry as a new Connections game will be available for them to try on Sunday. Connections puzzles are released at midnight in the player’s local time zone, and Newsweek will continue to provide helpful tips and clues for players to enjoy.

In addition to Connections, players can also explore other word puzzles such as Spellspire and Lexigo for a fun and engaging word game experience. The popularity of word games like Connections and Wordle highlights the appeal of challenging puzzles that test players’ creativity and vocabulary skills. With helpful hints and clues provided by Newsweek, players can enhance their puzzle-solving abilities and enjoy a relaxing weekend unwinding with a new Connections challenge.
