In March, a container ship known as the Dali slammed into Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge due to unexpected blackouts that caused the ship to lose power and propulsion. The owner and manager of the Dali, Grace Ocean Private Ltd. and Synergy Marine Pte Ltd., have expressed sympathy for those affected by the disaster but have refrained from commenting on the cause pending ongoing investigations and legal proceedings. Maersk, the Danish shipping giant that chartered the ship, stated that it would conduct its own investigation into the incident. The recent removal of a section of the bridge, using precision explosive charges, allowed the freed container ship to continue its journey. The situation highlighted the potential risks of maritime transportation and the importance of thorough safety measures to prevent such accidents in the future.
