Cabot Highlands in Scotland has announced the name of its newest golf course, Old Petty, inspired by the nearby 200-year-old church. The course is set to open next year and is part of the Cabot Collection, which recently acquired the Castle Stuart course and rebranded it as Cabot Highlands. Plans for a second championship layout alongside the original course have been unveiled, taking advantage of the picturesque surroundings near a tidal estuary and the historic castle on the property.

The logo for Old Petty was also revealed, paying tribute to the region’s iconic highland cow known as the “Hairy Coo.” Castle Stuart, designed by Gil Hanse and Mark Parsinen, has opened for the 2024 season, offering guests the opportunity to play on a course ranked among the Top 100 in the world. The facility also provides onsite lodging options at the Golf Lodge or the Farmhouse, as well as dining at the art-deco inspired clubhouse featuring a bar, restaurant, and top-floor lounge.

Old Petty, designed by Tom Doak, will open for preview play alongside an extended clubhouse with amenities such as a whiskey and cigar bar, clubhouse grill, and chophouse restaurant. The course will feature unique elements including an old farmhouse, a fishing boat, and the 1st and 18th fairways crossing directly over one another. The expansion of Cabot Highlands aims to enhance the overall experience for visitors while showcasing the rich history and natural beauty of the surroundings.

The Cabot Collection has been making significant strides in expanding its global presence, with Cabot Saint Lucia entering GOLF Magazine’s Top 100 courses shortly after its opening in 2023. Cabot Citrus Farms in Florida has also opened its first 18-hole course and two short courses earlier this year, while Cabot Revelstoke in British Columbia is currently in development with plans for a debut next year. The announcement of the new golf course and clubhouse at Cabot Highlands reflects the company’s commitment to providing world-class golf experiences in unique and breathtaking locations around the world.

The addition of Old Petty to the Cabot Highlands lineup further solidifies the destination as a premier golfing destination in Scotland, known for its stunning landscapes and challenging courses. The integration of historical elements such as the castle, church, and other local features adds to the overall charm and character of the facility, creating a truly unforgettable experience for golfers and visitors alike. The ongoing expansion and development efforts by the Cabot Collection demonstrate a dedication to innovation and excellence in the golf industry, establishing the brand as a leader in delivering exceptional golf experiences worldwide.
