Sangha, who portrayed a glamorous image on social media, worked as the chief financial officer of a nail salon and was previously arrested in a federal drug case for being a large volume drug dealer.
In a federal indictment, prosecutors described how Sangha became involved in Perry’s death through his acquaintance, Eric Fleming, who reached out to her for ketamine. Sangha allegedly sold approximately 15 vials of ketamine to Perry’s intermediary for cash. After Perry’s death, Sangha texted Fleming to delete all their messages, and later posted on Instagram from Tokyo. Born in Britain and raised in the U.S., Sangha studied at the University of California, Irvine, where she graduated with a degree in social sciences before earning an MBA in London in 2010.
Federal investigators uncovered evidence of drug trafficking in Sangha’s home, including ketamine, methamphetamine, psilocybin mushrooms, cocaine, and other prescription drugs. U.S. Attorney Martin Estrada described Sangha’s residence as a “drug-selling emporium” and found video files on her phone related to drug trafficking. Prosecutors cited an incident in 2019 where an Alaska man overdosed on ketamine provided by Sangha, leading to his death. Despite knowing the dangers of ketamine, Sangha continued to sell drugs, which ultimately led to charges in connection with Perry’s death.
Sangha’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, criticized the severity of the charges against her and argued that the case may not merit criminal prosecution despite being a tragedy. Geragos questioned the accountability of individuals involved in Perry’s death, suggesting that prosecutors may have a challenging time holding them responsible. To date, two of the five people charged in connection with Perry’s death have pleaded not guilty, while others, including the actor’s personal assistant, have accepted guilty pleas.
