Former President Donald Trump has received a boost in his chances to win North Carolina based on the latest Rasmussen Reports poll. The survey found Trump leading Vice President Kamala Harris by 5 percentage points, with 51 percent of likely voters in North Carolina indicating their support for him in the 2024 presidential race. The poll was conducted from October 9 to October 14 by Rasmussen and American Thinker, a conservative online magazine. With just three weeks until Election Day, North Carolina has the potential to become a tipping-point state in the presidential race, with polling indicating a close contest between Harris and Trump.

The survey found that the economy is the most important issue for voters in determining their choice for the Oval Office, followed by border security and abortion rights. When asked about the most important issue for the next president to solve out of several options including illegal immigration, rising prices, and protecting democracy, voters in the survey identified immigration as the top issue. The majority of respondents expressed a desire for a major change to be brought in by the next president, with 77 percent indicating that their choice for president is about supporting a candidate rather than trying to prevent one candidate from winning.

FiveThirtyEight’s tracking data shows Trump leading Harris by 0.9 points across statewide polls in North Carolina, with an average of 48.2 percent to 47.3 percent. Recent polling from The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, and ActiVote has also shown varying results, with some polls indicating a tied race or slight leads for either candidate. North Carolina is considered a toss-up state in the election forecast model, alongside six other swing states including Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

The Rasmussen poll indicates a significant lead for Trump in North Carolina, but other recent polls show a much closer race between Trump and Harris in the state. With such varying results in polling data, it is clear that the outcome of the election in North Carolina is uncertain and could be crucial in determining the overall result of the presidential race. Both campaigns have not yet commented on the poll results, and with the election just weeks away, the race in North Carolina remains one to watch closely.

The economy and immigration are key issues for North Carolina voters, with a majority expressing a desire for major change in the next presidential administration. With the election heating up and tensions running high, the battle for North Carolina could play a pivotal role in deciding the next president of the United States. Trump’s lead in the latest Rasmussen poll could be a sign of shifting momentum in his favor, but with the race tightening in other polls, the final outcome remains uncertain.
