Netflix’s That ‘90s Show is making a comeback to the streaming service this summer, following the success of the first part which debuted in January 2023. The sequel series to the popular Fox sitcom That ‘70s Show will be released in two parts, with the second and third parts premiering on June 27 and October 24, respectively. Set in the mid-1990s in Point Place, Wisconsin, the show will consist of two eight-episode blocks and feature returning stars Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp as Red and Kitty Forman, the parents of Eric Forman.

That ‘90s Show introduces Eric and Donna’s daughter, Leia, played by Callie Haverada, who stays with her grandparents for the summer. The series will focus on the antics of a group of teenagers in Point Place, similar to That ‘70s Show. New additions to the cast include Mace Coronel as Jay, the son of Michael and Jackie Kelso, as well as Gwen, Nate, Ozzie, and Nikki portrayed by Ashley Aufderheide, Maxwell Acee Donovan, Reyn Doi, and Sam Morelos respectively. The trailer for the upcoming episodes also features original That ‘70s Show stars Laura Prepon, Don Stark, and Tommy Chong.

While the first season of That ‘90s Show saw guest appearances from Topher Grace, Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, and Wilmer Valderrama, none of the original stars appear in the announcement trailer for the return of the series. Kunis confirmed in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that neither she nor Kutcher will be returning to the show, despite the introduction of their on-screen son in the series. The absence of the original stars in the trailer hints at a new direction for the show as it continues to explore the lives of the next generation of characters in Point Place.

One notable omission from the original cast of That ‘70s Show is Danny Masterson, who played Steven Hyde and was convicted of two counts of rape in June 2023. Masterson was sentenced to 30 years to life in prison in September 2023, leading to his exclusion from any potential future appearances in That ‘90s Show. The show will undoubtedly navigate the challenges of addressing the absence of certain key cast members while also focusing on the new storylines and characters introduced in the sequel series.

Fans of That ‘70s Show can look forward to the return of That ‘90s Show this summer on Netflix, with Part 2 set to premiere on June 27. The continuation of the series promises to deliver the same comedic charm and nostalgic vibes that made the original show a hit, while also introducing fresh faces and storylines for audiences to enjoy. With the trailer teasing exciting developments in the upcoming episodes, viewers can expect the next chapter in the That ‘70s Show universe to captivate and entertain once again.
